Management and leadership often go together. However some leaders struggle with managing and some managers falter with leadership. Joe Marine is a proven leader and manager. He proved his competence as mayor in prior years securing funding for parks and infrastructure improvements. Joe helped secure the property for the new ferry terminal, and acquired the acreage to preserve Japanese Gulch.
Joe also supports several local entities by sharing meals with his family in local restaurants and supporting local festivals (Lighthouse Festival and the Mukilteo Garden and Quilt Tour). Joe has served on the YMCA board. Joe’s work and collegial relationships with other key leaders in the county lead to Mukilteo rising to one of the top 10 small cities some years back.
After a break from Mayoral duties, Joe stepped up and won a seat on the city council. While on the council he spoke to the Housing Assistance Program issue. Mukilteo in past years and with the annexation of Harbour Pointe had already met the stipulations of the HAP. When this program came to the attention of the council and many voters and the fact Edmonds voted it down, Joe went to work. He felt the voters should have a voice. The HAP grant was sought without consent of the voters and there were concerns with its further implementation and cost. Thanks to Joe taking the time to broker and construct a motion that the issue be brought to the voters, the council did vote in fact to place this on the ballot.
As a condo owner myself in Mukilteo, I support Joe Marine for Mayor. Joe has contacts and knowledge of policies and county issues to build cooperative programs and initiatives that benefit the city and its surroundings.
