I noted with interest that our senator, Patty Murray, was in the minority (55-39) in voting against the requirement for public disclosure of the “earmarks” or pork-barrel items contained in the Department of Agriculture appropriations bill.
It seems to me a good requirement that all bills list the “pork,” as well as the name of the member of Congress who added the item to a bill, as well as those supporting its inclusion. How else to highlight the waste and special interest greed associated with conducting the people’s business?
I am dismayed with a number of positions that Murray has taken of late. It appears she is becoming part of the problem in Congress, and has lost the perspective and convictions that helped her win her seat in the Senate.
