We rocked the house! On March 2, Senior Services of Snohomish County and the Snohomish County Music Project held a fund-raising event that included an amazing concert featuring the Weatherheads rock band backed up by the 40-piece Sound Edge Pops Orchestra.
Senior Services, together with the Music Project, envisioned an event that would raise money for senior programs, support musical arts and offer an evening with great entertainment. The Beatles theme was chosen because of its broad appeal and ability to blend rock with symphonic music.
This event would not have been possible without the vision, talent and support of an outstanding group of people.
Roger Pawley, Music Project director, coordinated the band and orchestra. The new Sound Edge Pops Orchestra performed under the direction of Kim Roy, a talented conductor.
A highlight of this musical experience was the performance by the Weatherheads, a Seattle rock band. They brought the Beatles to life and had the audience singing along to songs that many grew up with.
A special thanks to our guests, donors and community sponsors who gave generously. Together we raised more than $100,000.
Music is an important part of our life. It brings people together and inspires creativity and generosity. This music was beyond expectation, as evidenced by the three standing ovations given to the musicians.
