Regarding the Friday letter, “Nation was not created by the U.S.”:
Contrary to the statement that “Israel was founded “because a nation of less than 1 million people with a ragtag army beat five nations with a population of 40 million with modern armies and air forces. That effectively established the nation of Israel.”
In fact, the Nation of Israel was founded in 1917 by the British. They agreed to a Jewish homeland in Palestine, which the British controlled at the time.
It is interesting to read the Balfour Declaration, as it states very clearly:
“His Majesty’s Government view with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people, and will use their best endeavours to facilitate the achievement of this object, it being clearly understood that nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine, or the rights and political status enjoyed by Jews in any other country”.
It was the intention of the British that no harm should come to the Palestinians. How is that going?
