If you were struck by an incurable disease and facing imminent death, would you agree to take an unproven yet highly recommended medication, even though you considered it foolish and irrelevant to your condition? Of course you would try it.
America is ailing. I believe the miracle cure, unproven but highly recommended, is prayer. The National Day of Prayer is Thursday, May 3. If every citizen, all 325 million of us (including the growing number of atheists and others who feel prayer to God is foolish and irrelevant), would kneel down and pray for our country, I am confident we would see positive changes. God has promised us: “If my people will humbly pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear them, forgive their sin and heal their land (2 Chronicles 7:14).”
Our political efforts seem to be making things worse. Let’s see if a spiritual revival does the trick. “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord (Psalm 33:12).”
