As a past teacher and current firefighter in this community, I know first-hand the importance of a quality education, and I am proud to have taught and now serve as a firefighter in our community. Lake Stevens Schools have an excellent reputation for providing our students with every opportunity to receive an outstanding education. I know students who have graduated from LSHS with their first year of college completed, and students who have gone on to excel in the trades for work accomplished at school and through the Sno-Isle Skill Center.
On Jan. 22 your mail-in ballot will be sent to you, and you will have the opportunity to continue your support of Lake Stevens students and the quality public education they are receiving. The maintenance and operations replacement levy is up for renewal, and a technology levy is requested to provide equity in classroom equipment and a five-year replacement schedule. Complete information about these issues is located on the district’s Web site at www.lkstevens.wednet.edu.
While we can’t control what happens nationally, or in Olympia, we do have a direct say in what happens locally. I urge you to vote “yes” and to mail in your ballot to continue to provide the children in our community an excellent education. They are, after all, our future, and we need each one of them to be successful workers and citizens.
