The lives of people with disabilities and their families in Snohomish County have just gotten much harder. The main resource in our community for support of people with disabilities, the Arc of Snohomish County, has just lost a major source of its funding. The Arc is a non-profit organization, which supported our county since 1943. The Arc’s ission is to empower persons with developmental disabilities to increase their independence and quality of life, while offering encouragement and support to their families.
I am the parent of a child with a disability. The help and support I received over the years from the Arc has helped me to keep going when I was at the very end of my rope. But due to reduced funding, the Arc can no longer provide the services to our community that they once did. No other organization exists to support people with disabilities in our community as the Arc did. The well-known, mega-huge, national disability organizations, which are familiar to all of us, simply do not exist in Snohomish County. But thank God, we do have the Arc.
Please remember the Arc of Snohomish County at 1615 California in Everett. Your support of the Arc will help continue desperately needed support programs in our community for people with disabilities.
