Neighbors’ ideas would serve well

I strongly agree with The Herald’s endorsement of Betty Neighbors for the Snohomish County PUD Commission. The last several years of high electric rates have hit Snohomish County hard – from residents on fixed incomes, to families trying to pay the bills, to businesses struggling to add new jobs.

The PUD Commission needs a fresh infusion of ideas and leadership to help the citizens of Snohomish County. The Herald’s endorsement rightly noted Betty Neighbors brings a new perspective to the challenge of lowering electric rates. The PUD has done respectable work to cut costs in recent years, but long term problems in the energy market mean more real world experience is needed to keep that effort moving. Betty Neighbors’ successful track record managing a successful company is what separates her from her opponent in this race.

I’m a husband and a father. I want a PUD commissioner who will do everything they can to make sure my PUD bill isn’t wrecking the family budget. I know we can count on Betty Neighbors to do that job.
