Nerds take their revenge on TV

Nerds are taking over television, with several new shows focusing on the people who were on the receiving end of swirlies and wedgies in high school.

A few we’re looking forward to this fall:

“Chuck.” It’s about a computer geek who becomes an important government spy. If you haven’t been following all the fuss in D.C., Alberto Gonzales won’t tell the Senate whether this is a reality show.

“The IT Crowd.” A sitcom about nerds who work in the basement of a big company. Finally, a show about people who play “World of Warcraft” 18 hours a day. Hilarity ensues when someone takes down the company’s servers just for fun. (Note to IT departments: The rest of us know that’s what you’re doing.)

“The Big-Bang Theory.” A beautiful girl moves in next door to a couple of geeks who don’t know how to handle the opposite sex. Based on the true story of a man who grows up to write The Buzz for The Herald.

A new study says there’s no truth to the legend that there are more accidents under a full moon. So when you’re running away from werewolves, don’t blame it on the moon if you fall down.
