Have you seen the new Edmonds landmark? I urge everyone to go by 188th Street SW between 83rd and 84th Avenue W to view the cell phone tower erected last week by the PUD and T-Mobile in the middle of a single family zoned neighborhood.
This structure literally appeared overnight. The neighborhood was not afforded the opportunity to comment or rally against it.
It is ugly and completely out of character for the neighborhood. We have been told that property values have decreased perhaps as much as $100,000 per household because of this monolith.
The Snohomish County PUD could have used the existing pole or a taller wood pole, which in my opinion would have been a much better option. Many of us are urging the PUD to replace this metal monstrosity with a wood pole.
I say to T-Mobile, the PUD, and the homeowner who signed this pact with T-Mobile, “Have you no sense of community? Have you no regard for the neighborhood in which you want to do business or in which you live? Have you no shame?”
It would appear that greed and selfishness has ruined a neighborhood and a community.
