Health care insurance has become a necessity for all of us but not everyone has access and even those that do can be dropped or refused at a whim. The health care package the Republicans are so anxious to get rid of can save lives in our state and in every state.
•3.8 million — The number of Washingtonians who would be threatened by lifetime limits on how much their insurance companies will cover if they face a chronic condition.
359,000 — the number of Washingtonians who would risk being denied insurance altogether if they make a mistake on an application form.
4,340 — The number of health-care providers in Washington who would again be penalized with low reimbursement rates due to their efficient delivery of medicine.
6.6 million and 311 million — The number of Washington and U.S. citizens, respectively, who would face continued escalating health care costs.
$260 billion — The amount that would be added to the national debt.
It’s not free, of course, but in the end it is worth every penny. If we could tax the rich that would help to cover it.
