Thanks to The Herald for the recent interesting story about the 522 new bills that were enacted in the recent session in Olympia, and for noting that 438 took effect Sunday. Our legislators sure were busy – but they completely ignored a bill that most parents would have supported.
HB 1321 would have allowed parents to be informed (with a few exceptions ) if their teenage daughters were pregnant and considering an abortion. For some reason – you decide – there wasn’t even a hearing to consider the pros and cons on this issue. The Republicans just wanted to discuss this life or death issue but they were powerless against the Democrats who are the majority in Olympia. It seems they’re not too concerned about parents’ rights or the safety of our young girls. Parents should remember this next election.
