Snohomish County proposes to adopt new stormwater regulations and standards (National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System).
This is to comply with the Department of Ecology, the agency that administers the Federal Clean Water Act.
The new regulations will cover drainage, any land disturbance activity, amend and add other regulation to both new development and “redevelopment” of both public and private projects.
If you are a land owner or home owner, beware that these regulations are to become Code 30 in September 2010.
It is interesting to note an Environmental Impact Statement is not required and the cost to projects not accessed.
The new codes will have a far-reaching effect on rural land owners that few are aware of.
Snohomish County has only had its UDC public meetings and “legal notices” for public awareness. More than 600 pages are online at www.snoco.org. Look for UDC and NPDES update. You have only a short time to comment on them for new laws that could be far-reaching.
