In 2002, the Snohomish County Democrats immediately grasped the faults of the proposed Snohomish County electronic voting system and formally objected to the adoption of any system that did not contain an auditable voter verified paper trail. We knew that the inability of common citizens to meaningfully audit vote results automatically disqualified that or any system. While the images from Florida may have been comical, we prefer a discoverable voting debacle to one that cannot be discovered.
Unlike The Herald, we find the adoption and implementation of the present electronic voting system to be a serious violation of the public trust.
Kent Hanson, Chair
Snohomish County Democrats
