Everett Explosion basketball is great entertainment. I walked out of the Everett Events Center Wednesday night feeling intrigued, curious and passionate about the Explosion organization.
It was a well-planned night of solid professional basketball, where citizens of Snohomish County were invited to enhance the sense of community identity, pride and good citizenship. (At halftime, a group of high school students performed a scene from their play. They seemed genuinely thrilled to have been given the opportunity to perform, and in return they awarded the team by being the loudest cheering section.)
The basketball team represented Everett well. Even as mental and physical mistakes were made by players, as is the case with any sport, they redeemed themselves within minutes by showing competitive fire, toughness, teamwork and good sportsmanship.
I enjoy seeing some of the fun the players have, and what appears to be some kind-hearted ribbing of the coaching staff, and of each other. If players are loose and having fun, they tend to be more fluid and remarkable, which is great entertainment.
So my hope is that the drama settles down, the humor shows up more, and the competition and athleticism remain. Good luck, Explosion!
