Regarding Secretary of Transportation Doug MacDonald’s Thursday guest commentary, “Fixing crumbling freeways first priority,” he states, “Commuters who drive through Everett twice a day are a big part of Snohomish County’s traffic problem.” Hmm, the last time I checked the freeways were for all people needing to travel from point A to point B, including commuters; but, now I realize that we are the “problem.”
If there were no “problem” commuters buying all those gallons of gasoline with the ever-increasing user tax that we pay with each gallon, I wonder how Mr. MacDonald would be able to fund all the new $40,000 extended cab, 4-door deluxe model DOT pickup trucks, often seen with only one “problem” driving it? Most commuters cannot afford to live where they work nor afford new deluxe model trucks, but then again we’re just a “problem” – glad to see our “nickel at work”.
