A recent Herald letter to the editor declared criminal intent by those who walk or bike wearing a face mask, and promoted a ban on this. I would like to point out the obvious: It’s winter, and it’s cold outside!
I frequently walk or bicycle in cold weather, and a face mask makes sense; protecting my face from numbing cold, particularly if there is a wind, or when biking. I recommend that those who doubt this, should ride a bike, or walk for 30 minutes in 45 degree or lower temperatures. To imply that all those who wear face masks outdoors are criminally motivated, is a sad statement on the current level of paranoia in our communities.
