When I heard that there was most likely going to be a special session of the Legislature, I started thinking about how much more it was going to cost the state. We are in a budget crisis. It’s $90 a day for the legislator, plus any other benefits. This does not include the staff, running the chambers, etc.
The legislators have 105 days to do the state’s business and the first thing they should tackle is the budget. How do you know how much money you can plan on spending if the budget isn’t the first thing handled? I believe that there should be no additional pay, per diem, mileage or any other dollar paid to a legislator after the 105 days are up. No bonus for not doing your job!
