The sound of celebration is deafening. The amount of news coverage is staggering. The headlines are drumming the beat of victory in Iraq. I can’t wait for that big front page print in the news like when we liberated France. No wait, I am dreaming again. I had so hoped the mainstream media would actually be responsible and accountable to their customers. Again, I am disappointed.
Instead I hear about how talk radio and public forums should be screened for proper content and censored so that the elite press corps can model the message they want us to adopt as truth. It is truly a sad day in America when they distort and create news from thin air or simply neglect to carry a story when it doesn’t fit their agenda. You would think that once-fine organizations like The New York Times would see their dropping revenue and the loud rejection by their paying customers and would attempt to go back to objectivity and honesty. Nope, it’s not they who are wrong, it’s you and I who are in need of more indoctrination and mind-altering mediocrity. Is it any wonder we are disenfranchised with our public servants? We cannot get the truth on any issues to make sound decisions anymore.
The ferry system, Social Security, transportation and education are all in a state of disaster. The very foundations of truth that once held it part of their core values to provide the facts, are in and of themselves horribly biased and politically aligned to the very people they held in contempt in the past. The fox is guarding the hen house and we chickens are left with nothing but recycled paper. How comforting.
