In response to the Friday letter “Attempts to suppress are un-American” The letter writer states that it is unconstitutional to suppress someone’s point of view. Nobody, including Fox news, was trying to suppress anyone’s point of view, but nothing states that their point of view has to be given space at the state Capitol.
Using his rational, I suppose not allowing a Nazi flag display would be unconstitutional. The group that posted the billboard calls themselves the Freedom “From” Religion Foundation. The 1st Amendment of the Constitution guarantees us freedom “of” religion, not a freedom from it.
The difference between the religious holiday scenes and the atheist billboard are the holiday scenes are just a celebration of a holiday. Their intent is not to persuade or offend anyone. The atheist billboard’s purpose was quite clear. Its only intent was to offend anyone that had any type of religious beliefs. Fox news had it right. Our governor needed to stand up to the left wing atheists and tell them what they could do with their hate filled billboard.
