On Nov. 2 there was a letter to the editor in The Herald written by Steven Haynes concerning flooding on the spot where Dwayne Lane plans to build (“Island Crossing: Council should take another look at ‘facts’”). This report is false. I was there during the flood and after and there was no evidence of it having had water on it.
Some people have the wrong information about where he plans to build. It isn’t on Highway 530. It is between Smokey Point Boulevard and I-5. I lived almost next door to this spot for 58 years and have never seen flood water where he plans to build. In the recent flood, the only business at Island Crossing that was affected was O’Brien’s Turkey House, where there were 3 inches of water on the floor. They were closed for one day.
I would like to know where he got the information concerning future businesses that will be coming into the area and the 17,000 extra cars he said will be on our roads daily.
