I could not believe the front page picture in a Seattle paper recently of Sen. Aaron Reardon laughing while he was running back to the Senate after shirking his responsibilities in order to give the House more time to push its unemployment compensation proposal.
Why was he laughing? Doesn’t he take the prospect of Boeing leaving the state seriously? Reardon had two terms in the House and now one session in the Senate to address the problems everyone is scrambling to solve. Instead of staying on the job, he took a tour of Olympia and picked up his laundry. Where are his priorities?
We expect more of our elected representatives, especially when jobs are on the line. I am beginning to think the only thing I can expect is disappointment and unemployment.
