I whole-heartedly agree with the Tuesday letter writer who asked that advertisers not leave their junk on doorknobs. My husband and I do not enter and leave our home by the front door, so who knows how long that junk sits on our doorstep going unnoticed?
We do, however, have a “No soliciting” sign on our door. Apparently their need to leave their junk supersedes our right not to have any soliciting done on our property. The “No trespassing” on our door is there for looks as well, since that alone should be enough information to keep the junk away.
We do not patronize any business that leaves junk on our doorstep. We do resent the fact that they are making our home a target for people who are looking for a victim though.
It seems to me that littering on someone’s property should be against the law. If the signs do not tell them that we are not interested in receiving their junk then maybe laws are what we need to get that message through to them.
We get our share of junk through the mail delivery service, so churches and other business stop leaving your junk on our doorstep for criminals to use to help them with their business.
