The front-page story Sept. 23 on the Everett Events Center reported that “about 10,600 gallons of water are needed to create ice an inch thick.” That’s not counting the amount needed for the community rink. I’ll remember that when we have a dry season and the authorities are urging households to stop watering lawns and telling us that daily showers are not really necessary.
