What is going on between Swedish Hospital and Regence BlueShield is very disturbing. It would be extremely interesting to know what the salaries of the executives at Regence are. The insurance companies always seem to come out ahead. They underpay the hospital; yet, I’m sure the Regence corporation does fine, in spite of “nonprofit” standing.
The patients will be the big losers here. The article in The Herald mentioned chemotherapy — just try to get another insurance company with that “existing condition.”
We truly need some reform.
