The Everett City Council votes to fund same-sex, unmarried partner benefits for health, dental and other benefits. This is a tremendous cost placed on the Everett taxpayer. This is not where I would choose to have my tax money directed. Why is it that we have to vote for fire, school, police and other life-surviving funding measures and do not vote to fund health care coverage for unmarried city employees?
The simple fact is that this expenditure would not pass. As taxpayers, we really need to look at our elected officials who supported this frivolous and unacceptable vote to use our tax dollars. How about putting this to a vote of the people and then fund fire, school and police with the money set aside for this ridiculous addition to benefits for unmarried city employees?
