After reading about what happened at Snohomish High School with the group of senior students who should, by ages 17 and 18, be responsible enough to know better, I just had to write.
I remember my graduation in 1957 and I also remember a couple kids who were not allowed to graduate, not because of vandalism, but merely from skipping school! These parents who stand behind and condone this should be totally ashamed of themselves and their kids. When we read the first report of this vandalism, both my husband and I questioned what the reaction would be from the parents? I guess we already suspected what it was going to be.
That is the trouble with our society today – too many parents who do not teach right from wrong, quite possibly because they were never taught right from wrong. One lock wouldn’t have been bad, but 45? That costs money. I think these kids, for they certainly are not adults yet because they do not act like adults, should all have to pay in full for the replacement of these locks and any other damage such as the clean up. And, I believe they should not get their diploma’s until full restitution is made. You parents who do not agree should be ashamed of yourselves, period.
