I believe this little incident that happened to me the other day is just what new editorial page editor Peter Jackson is looking for, when he said “The editorial page can publicize best practices and highlight the good in the community that goes unreported,” in the July 29 “Here at The Herald” column.
I went to the Everett Fred Meyer for a few things. When I came back to my car there was a business-card tucked into my window. First let me explain that both my sons were/are Marines, one retired, the other active for 30-plus years … so, I, of course have magnetic signs on my car; “mom of a Marine,” “God Bless America,” etc. The card said:
“Thanks from NAVY Veteran Debbie … your dedication to serving our country is commendable! God bless you and your loved ones for the sacrifices given! Whether serving in the military or as a Police Officer or Firefighter…I pray angels will surround you and keep you safe!
God Bless America!!!”
That small gesture from Debbie certainly made my day … I hope it does yours.
