I was impressed with the comments by young people from Marysville concerning the war (“Hope in a time of war: Young faithful use prayer to confront tough issues,” Tuesday). How wonderful that they have adopted a prayerful approach. Young men and women of their generation are doing a lot of the fighting in Iraq.
I would like to comment on one statement. One of them said, “Although war is hard and fearful we have to trust our leaders.” Let’s not forget that the Iraqi people have been doing that for a number of years. Perhaps much of that was because they were terrified of the regime. But we all need to make informed choices about our leaders. There is nothing wrong with expressing our opposition. That’s what living in a free, democratic country is all about.
Keep praying!
