The Bush/Cheney cabal dithered for six years on Afghanistan after they started a poorly planned, misguided and unnecessary war in Iraq. Mr. Cheney was recently out complaining about President Obama not making the same mistakes that he made.
Since President Obama has been in office he has raised the troop levels in Afghanistan to a level higher than Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld ever thought was necessary during their time in charge. Our president is not just reacting to the situation but is taking the time to make the military figure out a winning strategy before committing even more troops. While I am dubious that there is a winning strategy in Afghanistan, I support our president in his attempt to bring the military back to reality, something the previous administration never deemed important.
Considering that the extreme right-wing chicken hawk draft dodger/deserters never got it right in Afghanistan while they were directing the conflict it is hard to understand why anyone would bother to listen to what they have to say now. Perhaps those who do are having a bit of nostalgia for the good old days when reality had nothing to do with our foreign policy.
