It must be very tempting, and a temptation that few presidents have been able to avoid, to appoint themselves as pastors-in-chief for the nation. This what President Obama did a few days ago regarding gay marriage.
Memo to the president — stay with the day job of preserving, protecting and defending the Constitution and let the faithful (aka the states) sort out the gay marriage issue among themselves.
