The Herald has had several articles on how terrific Obamacare is doing. The truth is that large parts of Obamacare are a disaster and it’s going to destroy our most precious resource, medicine. The story of the century is unfolding right under the nose of The Herald and it is not getting proper coverage. Did The Herald forget that it had a guest commentary that forewarned disaster written by Rick Cooper of The Everett Clinic back on March 10, 2015? The headline was “State must restore Medicaid payment rate.” The people who work in medicine are reeling from the additional paperwork and financial constraints put in place by Obamacare.
Obamacare called for “Medicaid expansion,” which is another term for placing more people on welfare. Apple Health is Medicaid/Welfare, and my understanding is that it pays about 25 cents on the dollar. Some people demand $15 per hour for minimum wage, but don’t mind people in medicine and dentistry working for practically nothing. You can’t expect people to work for 25 cents on the dollar and survive.
Here is just a small list of companies that have made substantial changes due to Obamacare: The Everett Clinic, Group Health, LifeWise, Moda, Aetna and United Healthcare.
If you demand someone to work three times as hard and for less money, there will be consequences. Try to remember that the next time you vote, or one day you could find yourself on a gurney and in need of help, but they can’t get to you on time because the underpaid medical staff that is still here working is buried in paperwork by this boondoggle plan called Obamacare.
