Obama’s wife said what many think

Lately, there’s been a lot of criticism directed at Michelle Obama for saying these words:

“For the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country…”

We continually hear how our nation is less than perfect but when someone actually says it, a maelstrom develops! It’s the Emperor’s New Clothes all over again. She’s right! I am glad she said it. We know this country isn’t perfect!

I, for one, am not proud of our country invading Iraq. I am not proud of Scooter Libby getting a presidential pardon. I am not proud of our executive branch taking away constitutional rights. And I am far from proud of the actions of the CIA and what happens at Guantanamo.

No, we are not perfect. Let’s not kill the messenger for her showing us what’s in front of our very eyes!
