This is in regard to the trooper hiding in the median in Eastern Washington. (Thursday, “Trooper’s lights out worth man’s ticket dismissal.”)
The answer is very simple. Police are hired to enforce laws, they do not make them. When we get a driver’s license, we agree to abide by the rules of the road. Our Constituion protects us from being pulled over if we drive according to the rules of the road. As soon as we break the law we open ourselves to law enforcements. So simply put, “don’t break the law.” There is no excuse to speed, and I believe that law enforcement should be able to use anything, legally, at their disposal to catch speeders. I have never been able to understand why it is so hard to not speed. This is not a game of cat and mouse . Driving is serious business. Yes, we all have times when our speed gets away from us, and in my experience police have been lenient in those cases, but we need to pay attention to detail when we are behind the wheel. Drive safe and live. If you obey the law, you will not be stopped.
