The Herald recently posted video taken by Jessica Olson, an Everett School Board member, of a June 24 meeting to review documents and another of the July 5 School Board meeting. (July 15, “Everett School Board confounded by member’s video camera.“)
The video revealed much about Ms. Olson’s behavior. I heard an attempt to intimidate a qualified employee by asking what she lists as her occupation on her IRS 1040. I heard a disregard for a co-director’s employment obligations. I watched as she violated a unanimous school board vote when she indignantly took the documents out of the meeting for copying. I heard the ensuing smokescreen defense at the board meeting. Ms. Olson’s condescending tone and bullying technique of communication aside, her insatiable desire to trip up someone, anyone, is a waste of the school district’s time and resources, and ultimately our tax dollars.
Kudos to the remaining Everett School Board directors who continue to display the utmost professionalism, providing the voters with accountability and transparency as promised. Directors Petersen, Andrews, Russell and Dutton are clearly rising above and forging ahead for Everett Public Schools students and their education.
