One liberal away from taking rights

On Thursday the Supreme Court voted that we can legally own a gun. I thought the Constitution guaranteed that. The vote was 5 to 4, with Justice Kennedy voting along with the other four conservative justices. The four liberal justices voted against it.

Wednesday, they voted out the death penalty for a child rapist. You can rape a child — just don’t kill him or her. This came from a case in Louisiana where a 300-pound man raped an 8-year-old girl. They say she can never have children. Can you imagine what she went through? If any one deserves the death penalty it was that guy. The vote again was 5 to 4, this time Kennedy siding with the four liberal judges. Do you see what I am getting at?

Thursday we were one vote away from us having the right to own a gun. Have you given any thought to what kind of justice the next president will appoint? He will probably get to appoint at least two. My question is what is important to you and me as to who we want on the Supreme Court? Aside from our choice of president, there are some other important people to consider — justices and the Congress. Pelosi is already challenging the gun verdict, saying there are other ways to restrict guns. The NRA is going to sue Chicago for their gun laws, and other cities, maybe even Seattle. Mayor Nichols has outlawed guns in some areas in the past month in Seattle. Articles say this may not be resolved for 10 years. Do you want to lose the right to own a gun? Better think twice when you cast that vote this November. How many more rights will we lose under liberal justices?
