I am angry, frustrated and frightened that a Level 3 sex offender is being released to live in my community. This sex offender plead guilty to raping two young girls, ages 6 and 8. For this offense, he spent only eight years in prison. This offender is moving into my neighborhood, forcing us to live in constant fear. How can such a dangerous individual be let out of prison?
State officials have classified him a Level 3 due to the crimes he has committed and his “high probability to re-offend.” They know what kind of monster he is. Yet, his time is up, so they are turning him and others like him loose.
I do not want him in my neighborhood or in anyone’s neighborhood! Innocent people should not have to be prisoners in their own homes. Children should not have to be fearful playing in their yards. We did not commit a crime.
No one wants these violent sex predators in their community, whether it is one offender or many housed in a secure community transition facility. I would encourage everyone to support and sign Initiative 833. This initiative is a one-strike law for violent sex offenders. We need to send a clear message that predators belong in prison. I would also encourage parents to educate themselves and their children about this troubling matter. Please keep your children and other loved ones safe.
