Regarding the Sunday letter, “Illogical to cite current home costs”:
Embarrassingly, Gregory Hauth loses credibility in his “illogical” argument against using current home values by falling victim to his own lack of rationale in his complaint about lower WASL scores. All the rest of his points lose credibility by his silly comparison of low WASL scores to one’s proximity to a busy airport. And if there is “research” to prove that WASL scores dive when schools are near airports, remember that statistics can prove anything and often have no basis in logic.
I grew up near Cleveland Hopkins International Airport very near or directly under multiple flight paths. Possibly due to the fact that teachers and students were not hyper-sensitive to life’s soundtrack, I was a good student who slept well and went on to graduate from college and have a successful career for 35 years.
I am also against the use of Paine Field for commercial flights. I appreciate the activity of people such as the Save Our Communities, but please don’t diminish your work by presenting from an emotional platform.
