Boy, did Bill O’Reilly get it right in his Aug. 4 column in The Herald on why Islam and Catholicism are in big trouble in these times.
Regarding Islam: What kind of religion would sentence a woman to death for allegedly committing adultery or an obviously mentally ill man for making a negative remark about Islam and claiming to be Jesus Christ?
As O’Reilly implied, what kind of religion would not come out strongly against Sept. 11 when this terrible act was committed in the name of Islam? Islam appears to me to be a religion of intolerance, hatred and vengeance. The Islamic leaders of our time closely parallel the legalistic Jewish chief priests and Pharisees of Christ’s time who condemned Christ to death for teaching forgiveness and love rather than teaching to kill or punish those who may have broken their myriad of laws and rules.
Regarding Catholicism, if it is true that the pope refused to meet with some of the childhood victims of perverted priests because he couldn’t fit it into his schedule in Canada, it is sad and disappointing indeed.
