To all people who have savings, checking, certificates of deposit or any other type of savings program with Washington Mutual Bank, you should consider this information.
Washington Mutual recently laid off 5,000 people and will probably lay off more. What makes this so bad is they are sending much of the work these people were doing to the Philippines. They are trying to bail themselves out of trouble, on the backs of cheap labor.
I make my money in this country and I want it to stay here. I closed my accounts the day after I read it in the paper.
What will thousands of banking people do for work? I don’t think there are enough banking jobs in the whole country for all of them.
Let your conscience be your guide. There are many local banks that still do their work here. If you are a member of organized labor, it’s the least you can do to help these people.
