I must respond to the letter, “Save preaching for the pulpit”: Where was the fire and brimstone? Why must the pastor keep his opinion strictly to his pulpit? Is not this country about free speech, or are progressives afraid to hear opinions that are different from their own? I feel for them, it’s the latter. Funny how the vigils for this tragedy were held at local churches, and how packed these same places were the following Sunday. People may try to shout someone else down but that tactic is failing. I think that a pastor’s job is about preaching and teaching his faith where he finds himself. So take a few deep breaths and relax.
