It is June and I have just planted my tomatoes. People who work at your state animal shelters, however, are gearing up for the killing season.
Last year, according to The Washington Federation of Animal Care and Control Agencies, 54,000 dogs, cats, kittens and puppies, were put to death in our state simply for lack of a home.
We have a responsibility to these animals and these fine professionals to stop the madness.
Please spay and neuter your pet.
Please seek advice about behavior problems (call your local shelter for a referral).
Please, when you do decide to get a pet, remember that your local animal shelter is the place. You will receive advice not based on the need to sell, but on a true understanding of you and your future companion’s needs.
