Who is making the choices for our children? Our school administrators who reap the benefits of their large and ever-growing salaries? Our administrators in their over-priced and modern administration building, busy choosing the next new set of furniture to replace the previous sets our education dollars bought? Or could it be that we, the people, count? We, the parents in the Snohomish School District, who support our teachers 100 percent, are aghast at the decades of neglect it has taken to arrive at our current situation.
At a time when inadequate compensation is threatening our quality of education, who is making the choice for our children? Our teachers have delivered quality education to our children, faithfully and humbly, for generations. These efforts have given us a basis of pride in our community. Our children are our priority, let’s demand that status be recognized.
I would like to see some facts reviewed in The Herald. A comparison, perhaps, of our administrators’ wages, raises, bonus history compared to our teachers’ compensation. Tax dollars used for administrative costs would be enlightening, at least as far back as the construction of our current administration building and the furnishings therein. Then, take a little time to talk to our teachers, you know, those folks we entrust our children’s education and future to.
I think our priorities are quite clear. Let’s make the choice. Let’s resolve this for the deserving, our teachers, our children and our community.
