It is obvious from the comment in the Monday letter about the caucuses that the writer has never been to one and has no clue who the people are who do attend (“A tradition that must be changed”). I resent being called pompus and power hungry. I am an average individual who attended the Republican caucus as I was interested to participate in the candidate nominating process at the grass-roots level. I attended to learn what my fellow voters from my precinct were thinking, have a open discussion and send our delegate to the county convention with the direction to vote for whom we decided was to make the best presidential candidate.
Among the “pompus and power hungry” attendees from my precinct, I was the only one who had attended a caucus before and for one attendee it was the first presdential election in which she was elgible to participate.
