We recently lost an elderly family member due to Alzheimer’s disease. The reason for this letter is to publicly thank her caregivers of the past 15 years, which she spent at Merry Haven Health Care Center in Snohomish. Not only is Alzheimer’s disease devastating for the victim but also for the family. So, to each one of you who provided for her personal care, medical needs and facility needs, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your tender, loving care and for being there when we could not be.
In a society that often seems to have little regard for the elderly, we wish to express our sincere appreciation for those who contribute greatly to the elderly by working in health care facilities. It would seem a caregiver’s most important assets are a heart for caregiving and a love for the elderly. We wish to thank each caregiver in each facility for working hard for long hours with inadequate compensation and little appreciation. Not only do we, as family members, depend upon you but so do our elderly loved ones. Thank you for being the backbone of elderly care.
