Who does Paul Roberts work for? In your Monday article, “Retired Marysville official back at work,” featuring Mr. Roberts, I understand he works for the city of Marysville as a contract consultant for $6,000 a month, or $72,000 a year. Likewise, he makes $24,000 a year as an elected City Council member in Everett. Since Mr. Roberts works for two cities who compete against each other for federal and state funding, economic development projects and educational institutions (UW North), who does Roberts really represent?
If Mr. Roberts wants the big bucks as a government consultant he should step down as an elected official in Everett and remove the conflict of interest that appears to exist. Serving two masters may seem like an old-fashioned idea, but as a citizen of Everett, I feel like my city is getting the short end of the straw.
