As reported on TV, the Monroe man who tried to pay his traffic fine with coins was denied justice once again.
Obviously, the bumper stickers on the back of his car provoked officers to harrass him. Pretty sad, since police officers are supposed to be “protecting and serving” us, the American citizenry, instead of “persecuting and sentencing.”
The coins in question are legal tender in this country. By refusing to accept them as payment, the government has shown us how little our rights mean to them. His civil rights have been denied on many levels. Even worse, the apathy shown by the public and by public officials shows me that “liberty and justice for all” should be added to the endangered species list.
