Regarding the letter, “How dare union look out for folks”: Like so many in our society today, the writer is not only misinformed, he chooses to spread his mis-information and attack the last of the middle class. The pension details in the Boeing offer are clear. The current defined plan, the Boeing Co. Employee Retirement Plan (BCERP) will stop the accumulation of time on Oct. 1, 2016 for all IAM employees. Then all IAM employees will be on a 401K type plan. Had the Boeing Co. offered the 401K plan to future new hire employees like the SPEEA union accepted, the outcome may have been different. But facts are facts, all these current IAM employees signed a employment agreement with a defined pension plan. To now change that agreement and have another 2008 financial meltdown happen where $7 trillion disappeared is an offer no one would accept and should have not been offered.
