I found two articles in the April 2 Herald strangely connected:
The first reported a hole ripping through the roof of a Southwest Airlines 737 near Phoenix. A passenger indicated the hole was up above where luggage is stored and that “when you look up through the panel you can see the sky.”
In a second, unrelated article, Boeing announced the sale of 15 new 737s to Turkish Airlines. The Boeing spokesman indicated the planes will have the new “sky interior” with more overhead luggage space.
Perhaps the Phoenix incident was simply a flight testing of this new convertible model of the 737.
