Regarding the Flying Heritage Collection located on Paine Field: I went to see the first “Flying Day” on Saturday at the field since their opening. I, along with several hundred others who came out, really enjoyed standing inside a 10-foot high chain link fenced parking lot trying to see the aircraft fly through a view obstructed by fire houses, hangars, airport mowing machines, parked B-52’s, and just about everything else that could possibly be done to make airplane viewing impossible. Maybe you should put in those fence slats to really cut down on the views.
I haven’t felt that unappreciated and dismissed in years. Several folks around me as we trudged back to our cars were overheard saying “never again” and “waste of time.”
I’ll continue to visit the collection and will bring out of towners, but will skip the “Flying Days” until they do something to make it less like watching from the bottom of a deep hole in the ground.
